Cultivating Financial Literacy, Consumer Protection, and Social Inclusion
At C.K.L.S Finance Plc., we believe that expanding access to capital is only half the battle; true poverty alleviation requires arming our communities with the knowledge to manage that capital safely. To achieve this, we have partnered with Good Return, an international development organization dedicated to eliminating poverty across the Asia-Pacific through financial empowerment and inclusive economic growth.
Through this impactful collaboration, C.K.L.S Finance blends responsible rural lending with Good Return’s specialized capability-building frameworks. Together, we are actively transforming low-income households, smallholder farmers, and marginalized women into confident, highly literate financial decision-makers.
Core Pillars of Our Collaboration with Good Return
Our programmatic alliance with Good Return drives deep social impact across four main operational areas:
1. The CAFE Initiative (Consumer Awareness & Financial Empowerment)
In absolute alignment with the National Bank of Cambodia’s financial inclusion agendas, C.K.L.S utilizes Good Return’s acclaimed CAFE framework. We deliver grassroots financial literacy programs directly into rural villages. This training equips clients with necessary life skills, such as tracking cash flows, understanding effective borrowing costs, managing household debt budgets, and building strategic savings.
2. Advanced Gender Equity & Social Inclusion (GESI)
Women are the backbone of Cambodia’s rural economy but face unequal systemic barriers. Working alongside Good Return, C.K.L.S coordinates deep Gender Self-Assessments and internal workplace reviews. We actively design responsive loan products tailored to female entrepreneurs and small agri-businesses, helping close the gender credit gap while enforcing equal-pay and equal-opportunity values within our organization.
3. Strengthening Client Protection & Responsible Lending
Responsible microfinance means protecting clients from over-indebtedness. Good Return provides advanced toolkits and specialized consulting to our credit officers. This updates our internal assessments to rigorously evaluate borrower capability, promote fair treatment, and ensure a non-discriminatory lending process across every district we serve.
4. Safeguarding Policies and Technical Capacity Building
True community empowerment requires internal institutional excellence. Good Return provides comprehensive training to the C.K.L.S team on safeguarding, unconscious bias, and grievance-handling mechanisms. This ensures that our field staff interact with communities using the highest ethical standards of protection and respect.
