Role Purpose

The Cashier Officer is responsible for the efficient handling of all over-the-counter financial transactions, including loan disbursements, repayments, and internal fund management. This role ensures that every riel and dollar is accounted for while adhering to the strict internal controls and security protocols of the institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Management: Execute daily financial operations such as receiving loan repayments, processing disbursements, and handling administrative fees with 100% accuracy.
  • Cash Reconciliation: Perform rigorous morning and evening cash counts. Balance the physical cash drawer against the system’s daily transaction reports to ensure zero discrepancies.
  • Client Service: Greet and assist clients at the counter, providing clear explanations of payment schedules and issuing official receipts for every transaction.
  • Currency Verification: Inspect and verify the authenticity of all banknotes received to protect the institution from counterfeit currency.
  • Documentation & Filing: Maintain a systematic filing system for all transaction vouchers, deposit slips, and financial documents to support internal and external audits.
  • System Integrity: Update the Core Banking System (CBS) in real-time for all cash movements, ensuring that client balances and institutional records are always current.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and physical security procedures for the cash vault and counter area.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a cashiering or teller role within the banking or microfinance sector.
  • Numerical Accuracy: Exceptional mathematical skills and the ability to handle high volumes of cash quickly and accurately.
  • Ethics: A spotless record of honesty and a deep understanding of the responsibility involved in handling institutional funds.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A polite, patient, and professional attitude when dealing with diverse clients and colleagues.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience operating Core Banking Systems.
  • Language: Proficiency in Khmer; basic English is a significant advantage.
